We Are Learning The Differences Between A Tangihanga And A Kawemate

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?

Questions What?	Tangi hanga It is a ceremony to pay your respects and grief to a person who has passed away.	Kawe Mate The kawe mate is often a school saying. A photo is often held by one of the woman at the front of the group to represent the body of the person who passed away.
Why?	To pay respects and grief to a person who passed away.	So we could have a photo of Whaea Dawnette on the wall by Nana Cindy

How? How did you feel?	I felt very sad because We didn’t just have a colleague that passed away we also had the best administer pass away	I felt more prepared for what was about to happen

Up above you can see that I have created a poster with bunches of words on it. This is my profile poster. It shows the subjects of my political group, Tawa.

I have created a poster to make people vote for one of our political groups. If you want to read the story just scroll down a little.

Up above you can probably see that I have created a spacey and galaxy poster. But that is not a normal poster, it is a voting form. It is called that for a reason not just for any reason. It is a poster that lets others vote for a different group, party, and person.

This term we have been focusing on the voting election. Our class (Room 4) Have been studying on the topic of political groups. We also studied the famous, the one and only, Kate Sheppard. Did you know that Kate was the very first women to think of the right to vote. And also added to that did you know that Kate Sheppard is also placed on the ten dollar note. Well, back to the election story. We had to split up into 4 different groups and those groups are: Kauri, Tawa, Rimu, and Totara. While we were in our political groups we got to do a whole lot of fun projects and activities, we also had to do little jobs to convince people at our school assembly to vote for a group. It was super fun. My group was Tawa. Fortunately we came second. Shilaine and Jontaye went around the whole school giving people voting sheets on the last day. Down below I have created a poster that talks about the things the make me succeed in school.

Up above there is a poster that has various shapes and colors. That is my strand goals. It tells you the steps to success.

What I found fun was: Creating the poster because I got to use many colors and things that represent my strand.

What I found hard was: To try and find the things that can make me succeed in strand

Lately we have had a hard time because we didn't just have a colleague or a member leaving our school, we also lost a member of our whanau. One of our colleagues have passed away, and today we had a Kawe mate. If you want to find out more about what we done look down below.
