Haere mai and watch my story about kapa haka.

9:40, Thursday 15th september 2016, We hopped off of the bus ready for our grand performance at Northland College. I thought that I would stay calm through the whole performance and think that there was  not going to be that much people, and then did I hear “we’re on now come on, come on, all of your guys parents are going to be watching” Then I started to panic.

We sneaked onto the stage as quietly as the thin air, I started to breath heavily as the curtains started to open “I'm so, so nervous” I thought to myself. One half of my body was thinking to stand there and do nothing and the other half was saying “snap over it get over it and do your best and be proud that you're doing this. As the curtains opened I smiled and was trying to be happy for doing this. “Hope, ki raro, whakapiri” harmony yelled the commands. She was a chief. Our first song that we sang was Te Matua. After that beautiful song I felt nice and calm because I was use to be singing in front of a huge crowd.

As soon as we were ready to leave the stage I heard a voice coming from the back of my head, so guess what I done? I turned around to see what it was and guess what? It was an old koro that was saying a mihi to us, it was about her thanking us and it reminds her of the olden days and she was very thankful for us and then when she took her seat another nan stood up and released a mihi and guess who it was? Nana Winie, her mihi was beautiful. We were so blessed for the honors for getting a remarkable mihi from our nannies, so we returned something back to her, a himene, which was Te pou.
At the end of the performance people were crying a river, I don't know why it was so sad but I also wanted to cry but I fought over the tears and shun my smile.

I loved every single moment of that day, I’ll never make that memory go old in my head.

My Task: To write a plan that focuses on one or to features of the culture festival. And what was special for myself.

What I found hard was to try and plan what I was writing about becaused to list everthing about that day but I was only allowed to have two paragraphs so I got the two most special things and put them in my story.
What I found easy was to write down the special things that I liked at the culture festival.

My next steps are to try and understand the organisation of the story and at least to try get 1 or 2 special things about the day.

  1. Heaven you are a super star. I love reading your posts. I mostly love reading your reflections on your learning. E mihi nui ki a koe, you smart learner. By focussing your recount on the two most important aspects you have created a real quality piece of work.
