"So what do you have on the list?" "Umm drinks" "Yup" "Ohh you better mark et" Get it Market!!

Today we are getting ready for a huge market day tomorrow. I am so nervous but so excited at the same time. Students from room 5 and room 4 are doing a market day. A majority of my class have use pallet wood (donated by whaea Gaylene) Me and my group (Letisha, Kaya, Charlee, and I) have created really adorable shelves. It is so sophisticated but it is so simple to make. There is a variety of different shops, for example, Nail salon, coffee table, string art, slime etc. Me and my team have worked really hard and I think every other team has too.

Today room 4 and room 5 are preparing the hangi so it is ready for tomorrow. The plan is to prepare the hangi this whole day and put the hangi in tomorrow. So that means we are peeling the potatoes, opening up the chicken, chopping our vegetables, making stuffing and more. I am so very excited for this adventure ahead of me.

1, 2, 3 PATU UP!!

Image result for 2 touch patu up

A few weeks ago we had a huge tournament of 2 touch. I was so excites and anxious. I couldn't wait for the tournament after all of the training. The person who coached us was matua Joe (Parehuia's dad) When I heard of 2 touch I didn't think much of the game, but when we began to train and actually learn the game I really started to like it so much. I mean, not as much as netball but it has to be at least on of my favorite sports. The rules are pretty simple. Down below I writ the rules about 2 touch

  • Teamwork - If you don't work as a team then you wont win the game, literally.
  • 1 touch - If you get 1 touch you cant score a try but you can still run
  • 2 touches - If you get 2 touches from 2 different people from the opposing team you are playing it is a instant hand over.
  • Campers - Campers are the people that are at the try line waiting for the person with the ball to through the ball to them so they can score the try
  • How to start the game - To start the game you have to pass it back to a person on your team. If you are in the try line then the opposing team will have to wait for you to pass the try line.
  • Scoring - when you score a try you have to leave the ball where you got the try.
  • Touching - no rough touches
  • Passing - you are allowed to pass in all directions
  • If you get 1 touch in the tryline pass it backward to a person and they can score the try. If they get a touch then that person can pass it back then they can pass it back e.c.t
  • Have fun

Have you ever had a gala before?

Make good decisions with your money

Today we welcomed a special guest into kura. His name is Garry. He is a money man that works at the ASB. Today he had a lesson with us in class, and he was talking about how some people and other people spend there money wisely and dumbly. We had this really cool game about spending money wisely. We all got into separate groups and he gave each group $1200. We had to spend our money on a holiday, flights, motel, food, insurance, passport and more. This game taught us to spend our money wisely and never use a credit card because at the end of the day you have to pay a bill. Did you know that if you don't pay the money you borrowed on the credit card, then you would have to pay more than what you actually have to pay. So here is an example...

You got to pay for a new sofa/couch and you writ the payment you had to pay on your calendar and then a few months or weeks later you forgot. Now what will happen is that the place where you bought that sofa from will charge extra money onto the actually payment.

Yes that is just the unspeakable but just remember to always never borrow money of your credit card.

So while we were playing the game he gave each team $1200 so the first thing we had to pay for the holiday was the flight. If you wanted to you could go on the premium flight or the 1st class but here is the twist, if you were to go on the premium flight then you would have to pay $300 but if you were to go on 1st class then you'll have to pay $500. Me and my buddy decided to go with the premium class because we didn't want to pay more than $300, but my buddy decided to go with credit card and we didn't know what was about to happen. Down below are the rest of the things we had to pay for.

Passport - $100
cash

Motel - $100/ $300/ $500
We chose $100 credit card
$200

Food - $200
Cash

When we were near the end we were piled with money but let's remember that when you borrow money you have to pay it back. So if me and my buddy used credit card and borrowed money for the motel and plane and we were overdrawn and didn't pay our money back that means that we have to pay more then the original price. So that means that we had to pay back $400 for the plane and we had to pay $200 for the motel.

At the end of the day we ended up with $200 but the main thing was that we had to have fun because all of the money we saved to go on a holiday was spent on things that we wanted and that's what we wanted to do, we wanted to have fun with the money. So if you ended up with $400, $300, $200, $100, or even none means that you spent how much you wanted on your holiday. Remember that you could spend that money because it was your savings money. Down below are the results of how much money each group ended up with

Group 1 : $0

Group 2 (Me) : $200

Group 3 : $0

Group 4 : $200

Group 5 : $100

Have you learned te reo yet? I f not you can read some examples down below to help you out.

Today in maori lessons we talked about past tense. This book was really fun to read, and it had a lot of actions that matches up to animals. Added to that we had to rewrite the book that we were currently reading. I is named I aha koe? I recommend this book to all primary kids because this book isn't really hard. But it will be a challenging book to start with. In this book it talks about a boy doing different actions like animals. If you would like to know more about this fascinating book read my work down below.

The new word we used was I. It isn't pronounced like the letter I but it is pronounced like e. I means did (Pass tense) Read my work down below.

Have you voted yet?

For the past few weeks we have been learning different activities that involve in elections. It teaches us to be good and healthy leaders.

We split the class into four different groups and we had to work as a team to create new, fun, different, exciting things. In the groups someone had to be a minister, leader, or minister of Maori affairs ( Deputy Leader) E.g Mister of sports, Minister of Lunches, Mister of housing Ect.

My favourite activity that we had to work on was to create a game using different materials and objects. I have created a portfolio (Profile) It tells you about me. It is somewhere in my blog. I really enjoyed it.

Down below I have written some lyrics of individual songs

  1. E tu Tuheitia

  2. Me He Manu Rere

  3. White wedding ( By Billy Idol)

  4. In the still of the night

  5. Hitching a Ride

  6. Fire ( Pointer Sisters)

  7. Rerenga wairua

  8. Ara Ngapuhi

White wedding
Hey little sister what have you done
Hey little sister who's the only one
Hey little sister who's your superman
Hey little sister who's the one you want
Hey little sister shotgun
It's a nice day to start again
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again
Hey little sister who is it you're with
Hey little sister what's your welsse wish
Hey little sister shotgun oh yeah
Hey little sister who's your superman
Hey little sister shotgun
It's a nice day to start again
It's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again
Pick it up
Take me back home yeah
Hey little sister what have you done
Hey little sister who's the only one (only one)
I've been away for so long (so long)
I've been away for so long (so long)
I let you go for so long
It's a nice day to start again
Come on it's a nice day for a white wedding
It's a nice day to start again, wow
There is nothing fair in this world
There is nothing safe in this world
And there's nothing sure in this world
And there's nothing pure in this world
Look for something left in this world
Start again come one
It's a nice day for a white wedding
Wow, it's a nice day to start again
It's a nice day to start again

In the still of the night

In the still of the night
I held you
Held you tight
'Cause I love
Love you so
Promise I'll never
Let you go
In the still of the night
I remember
That night in May
The stars were bright above
I'll hope and I'll pray
To keep
Your precious love
Well before the light
Hold me again
With all of your might
In the still of the night
So before the light
Hold me again
With all of your might
In the still of the night
In the still of the night

Hitching a ride
Hey mister, where you headed?
Are you in a hurry?
I need a lift to happy hour say oh no
Do you brake for distilled spirits?
I need a break as well
The well that inebriates the guilt
One, two
One, two, three, four
Cold turkey's getting stale
Tonight I'm eating crow
Fermented salmonella poison oak no
There's a drought at the fountain of youth
And I'm dehydrated
My tongue is swelling up
I say one, two
One, two, three, four
Troubled times
You know I cannot lie
I'm off the wagon and I'm hitchin' a ride
There's a drought at the fountain of youth
And now I'm dehydrated
My tongue is swelling up
I say
Troubled times
You know I cannot lie
I'm off the wagon and I'm hitchin' a ride
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)
Hitchin' a ride (don't know where to go)

Fire ( Pointer sisters)

I'm ridin' in your car
You turn on the radio
You're pullin' me close
I just say no
I say I don't like it
But you know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss
Ooooh, fire

Late at night
You're takin' me home
You say you wanna stay
I say I wanna be alone
I say I don't love you
But you know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss
Ooooh, fire

You had a hold on me
Right from the start
A grip so tight
I couldn't tear it apart
My nerves all jumpin'
Actin' like a fool
Well, your kisses they burn
But my heart stays cool

Well, Romeo and Juliet
Samson and Delilah
Baby you can bet
A love they couldn't deny
My words say split
But my words they lie
'Cause when we kiss
Ooooh, fire

Ooooh, fire
Kisses like fire
Burn me up with fire
I like what you're doin' now
Fire
Touchin' me
Fire
Touchin' me
Burnin' me
Fire
Take me home

Rerenga wairua
Rerenga wairua
Tēnā whakarongo mai
Pāpaki tū ana
Ngā tai o Te Tokerau
Ueoneone rā
He tangata rangatira e
Nō te Aupōuri
Ngāpuhi nui tonu e
Taku ara taku mana
He wahine whakaiti
Reitū te wahine
Nō Tainui waka e
Nāna i moea*
Ko Ueoneone e
Ka puta ka ora
Tātou ngā uri e
Nō reira e te iwi
Kua mutu ngā mihi
Aku tangi kōrero
Aku tangi tikanga e
Noho iho e koro
Ko Ueoneone e
Ngā manaakitia

Up above I have written some song lyrics about different songs. These songs are songs that our teacher taught us. All these songs are Maori and English. All the songs names can be featured at the top of the page. In black writing.
The sites that I used to help me with the song lyrics are: The web ( Google) and Youtube
What I found challenging was: Trying to find the specific song lyrics because there are many varieties of songs surfing on the net.
What I found easy was: Writing the Maori songs because majority of them I already know them.
Next time I will work on: A better way to present my work.
