The grand performance

11:15, Thursday 15th september 2017, We hopped off of the bus ready for our grand performance at Memorial Hall. I thought that I would stay calm through the whole performance and think that there was  not going to be that much people, and then did I hear “we’re on now come on, come on, all of your guys parents are going to be watching” Then I started to panic.

We sneaked onto the stage as quietly as the thin air, I started to breath heavily as the curtains started to open “I'm so, so nervous” I thought to myself. One half of my body was thinking to stand there and do nothing and the other half was saying “snap over it get over it and do your best and be proud that you're doing this. As the curtains opened I smiled and was trying to be happy for doing this. “Hope, ki raro” Tim yelled the commands. He was like a chief. Our first song that we sang was E te mate.. After that beautiful song I felt nice and calm because I was use to sing in front of a huge crowd.

As soon as we were ready to leave the stage we had to evacuate the stage in rows. We were so blessed for the honors for getting a remarkable mihi from Matua Hemara. At the end of the performance people were clapping so loud, I don't know why so I just went of the stage and and shun my smile.

I loved every single moment of that day, I’ll never make that memory go old in my head.

Have you ever lost one person apart of your family? Well lately we have been having qite a few tangi. It just gets worst and worst.

Whaea Dawnette
A few days ago, I had experienced in a school, losing the best admin officer. Her name was Whaea Dawnette. She would have done anything for our school to keep it healthy and strong. We didn't just hve no more staff member, but we lost a member of our whanau.

We went to the marae in black skirts. We had two long buses for transport. They took us down Awarua to a marae called Te Hurihi marae. We waited in the front of the marae to have a powhiri. As we walked into the marae we had to wait for the boys . Waiting for the boys to hariru the people was like and old lady walking around her. It felt like it took years for the boy to hariru, But it was worth the wait because we wanted to respect Whaea Dawnette. We went to her coffin by kissing her or to touch her coffin.

YASS! it was finally my turn. She was so pale but I didn't care. She still looked as beautifual as the day I first met her. To respect her I touched her coffin and carried on and hariru the rest of her family and friends. We had finished and all of the matua that had to talk had finished.

As we finished uncle Bill stood up and said his farewells and then we finished. It was our turn and matua Hemara had to acknowledge what whaea Dawnette did for us and we sang some songs. We sang the song dedicated to her, because some of her favourite subjects were: Waka ama, Kapa Haka and more. I will never forget that day we lost a member of our family. We will always be with you Whaea Dawnette.

Have you made a profile about yourself? If not then look down below to see if you can make one.

Up above you can see that I have created a poster with bunches of words on it. This is my profile poster. It shows the subjects of my political group, Tawa.

I have created a poster to make people vote for one of our political groups. If you want to read the story just scroll down a little.

Up above you can probably see that I have created a spacey and galaxy poster. But that is not a normal poster, it is a  voting form. It is called that for a reason not just for any reason. It is a poster that lets others vote for a different group, party, and person.

W.A.L.T Create a voting poster to let people to vote for someone and a party.

Yay or nei. Will you vote or not vote.

This term we have been focusing on the voting election. Our class (Room 4) Have been studying on the topic of political groups. We also studied the famous, the one and only, Kate Sheppard. Did you know that Kate was the very first women to think of the right to vote. And also added to that did you know that Kate Sheppard is also placed on the ten dollar note. Well, back to the election story. We had to split up into 4 different groups and those groups are: Kauri, Tawa, Rimu, and Totara. While we were in our political groups we got to do a whole lot of fun projects and activities, we also had to do little jobs to convince people at our school assembly to vote for a group. It was super fun. My group was Tawa. Fortunately we came second. Shilaine and Jontaye went around the whole school giving people voting sheets on the last day. Here are the results of the votiong election.

Parties/Political groups

  • Kauri
  • Tawa
  • Rimu
  • Totara
People election
  • Anthony = 15 - Kauri
  • Areka = 11 - Rimu
  • Amira = 9 -Rimu
  • Shilaine = 7 - Kauri
  • Kura = 7 -Rimu
  • Keila = 5 - Rimu
  • Tumanako = 5 -Kauri
  • Harmony = 4 - Tawa
  • Letisha = 4 - Tawa.

Down below I have created a poster that talks about the things the make me succeed in school.

Up above I have created a poster about my goal settings.

Down below I have created a poster that helps me succeed in strand. If you read it you might succeed as well.

Up above there is a poster that has various shapes and colors. That is my strand goals. It tells you the steps to success.

What I found fun was: Creating the poster because I got to use many colors and things that represent my strand.

What I found hard was: To try and find the things that can make me succeed in strand

Lately we have had a hard time because we didn't just have a colleague or a member leaving our school, we also lost a member of our whanau. One of our colleagues have passed away, and today we had a Kawe mate. If you want to find out more about what we done look down below.
