Have you ever played Ki o Rahi?

Ki O Rahi

The day was warm and the clouds were as fluffy as cotton candy. Room 4 students set
off on their journey, desperate to take out the Ki O Rahi tournament. We trained for
weeks through tough and hard to get that far. I was so excited for that day in front of me.

We eventually made it to the fields located in Kaikohe. I couldn't see any teams playing
and we carried on. We went to the central of Kaikohe to Four Square, Charlee’s dad
made his way out of the van and into the Four Square. A few long moments later
Charlee’s dad made his way back to the van and gave us a packet of sweets each.
He encouraged us to work hard if we wanted to have the packets of sweets. So we did.

When we eventually made it back to the fields we finally saw some teams there.
We parked up, unravelled the seat belts, and made our way out of the van to the rest of the classroom. Students and teachers were helping eachother set the tent up and the rest
were gathered around the damaged tree and against the rusted fence, waiting for the first
team to play against.

We countlessly counted the time until we could play against another school, until
finally we found the school we were competing against. The team we were playing
with first was Omanaia. We had many Technics and skills that we had learnt over the
passed weeks and we wanted to show those techniques that day. We competed against
many different schools and had much fun against them. We also got a high score of
54 - 16 to us, I was so hyped about that score, I literally wanted to puke.

Any ways to top this story off I really had an extraordinary day that day. I was so
blessed that I got the honour to play that day.

Epro8

Kia-ora everybody, last week we had done an awesome activity of Epro8. This includes to be physically involved. This activity made our life skills more suitable for our age. These photos represent us as we travelled to Kerikeri to do this challenge and competing with other schools. To do this we had to work together as a team, we also had to build a structure of a bed for a man to be able to fit. As a group, we also put together a buzzer that works and a light that works. We used all of these electronic stuff to help us get the electricity to work. At night the challenge was over. We were all proud on doing this challenge of Epro8. It was also our first time to represent Tautoro School.

Here are some awesome photos of us working as a team:

The guide to be a good sportsman player

W.A.L.T create an explanation writing that explains how being a good sports player works and what it is.

I hope you enjoy reading my magnificent piece of writing

The guide to be a good sportsman player
People have had there moments in sports, such as, getting angry because someone cheated but they really
didn’t, people cry because they didn’t win a match, people get over hyped about winning a game, people
cry when they win a game. So today I will be talking about how to be a good sportsman player.

What is a good sportsman player
To be a good sportsman player you have to use you hoe, such as aroha, tikanga, ponotia, manaakitanga,
kaitiakitang, awhi, and more.

Another way to be a good sportsman player is also someone who participates as a team player.
This will cause a huge effect on everyone else because maybe they would do the same as you, show awhi
to one another, someone who participates as a team player, and a person who plays fair. A good
sportsman player is a person who treats everyone with respect.  For example if you lost a game you be
graceful about it, if you made someone fall over you go over and help them, if you won you be humble.
That is what you call a sportsman player.

How do you be a good sportsman player?
To be a good sportsman player you have to abide by the rules and reverence others

To improve on my writing skills I will make sure that all of my sentences are grammarly correct
Have you ever written an explanation piece of writing before?

Raise awareness of learning how to swim

We created this movie to inform others the importance to learn how to swim. Over 1000 people have drowned due to the lack of experience learning how to swim. So that's why at Tautoro school we learn how to swim in our own pool.

Click this link to check out the movie we created

We had many fun creating this movie and had our ups and downs but at the end of the day the work was worth it.

Creators of movie:
Matua Matt
Charlee
Heaven

What is your favourite wet day game?

Down below there are some images that displays us (room 4 students) playing a fun game of fooze ball.

The reason why we were are having physical education in the library was because it was raining cats and dogs outside. So the Matua Matt created a fun but yet a sheltered fun game of fooze ball.

I was so happy that Matua Matt improvised of this amazing plan because if he didn't think of this we wouldn't of had P.E and my jaw would had dropped to the ground.

W.A.L.T have fun in a confined spaces

SPLISH! SPLASH! FUN!

On Friday 16/02/18 we had our first swimming carnival here at Tautoro School. It was great to see so many parents tautoko their tamariki, nieces, nephews, and mokos. I was so excited for the day ahead. Down below there are some photo's of the fantastic and fabulous photo's of people splashing and having fun in the water

We had such an amazing day. I hope that we will have another swimming carnival once again next year. I would also like to acknowledge the parents who arrived that day that day to support their loved ones

Have you ever been welcomed onto a marae?

W.A.L.T understand the meaning of what it means to get welcomed onto a marae

Up above I have created a google slide presentation which flaunts the property of a whaikorero, Mihi whakanoa, Waiata tautoko, Hariru, whakanoa, and a hongi.

All are traditional true to iwi Maori and all are great to know
should you visit a marae?

Ko ta matou nei mahi ko te tikanga me te kaupapa ki runga i nga marae.

The Truth Behind Kindness

The Truth Behind Kindness

Introduction:
People all around the world have something in common. In every person's life there is always a piece of
Kindness lurking about, and today that Is what I am talking about. What is the purpose of kindness?
How does kindness work? Well, today you questions are finally going to be answered.

What is kindness?
Kindness is a behaviour of  being friendly, generous, and considerate, (a kind act towards others)
To show kindness you can create memories and very special moments with someone. Kindness is
when you do a simple or overwhelming act of thoughtfulness, generosity, and happiness. For example
You could leave a thank you note for your teacher, say hello to a bus driver, pick some flowers for you
parents, and many more.

How does kindness work?
Kindness works when you do or create an act of thoughtfulness. This will cause a person to feel warm
and welcome. You could do an act of generosity towards others or a group which will make them feel
warm hearted and welcome. Creating this act will have a huge affect in someone’s heart.

Another way kindness works is simply by doing a thoughtful and elated act towards someone so that
person feels like they’re appreciated and feel warm-hearted.

Conclusion
All around the world people show kindness for once in awhile in their life and this will lead to someone
else being happy and warm inside. If you be kind you will lead to a happy and safe future, and when
people see that you show acts of kindness maybe they will show acts of kindness towards others. You
can do various acts of kindness towards others, such as saying hello, thank you to your teacher, leaving
a thank you note for your teacher and many more various acts to make someone feel warm inside.
Remember kindness is an act of thoughtfulness towards other which will cause that person to feel
appreciated inside.

Up above I have created a piece of writing. But not any ordinary writing, it is called a explanation writing. An explanation writing is a piece of writing that explains the process of something or how something works.

We were given an assignment to write an explanation writing of how kindness works. At first I thought it was going to be the hardest thing I had ever written about, but it was really simple.

Do you know your 12 times tables?

I am currently learning my 12 times tables. I am using various strategies to try and solve them.

How are you going to achieve them?
How I am going to achieve my 12x tables is to take home some question to do for home work and practise them and improve on my speed and learn my 12x off by heart.

How long do you think it will take you to accomplish you 12x tables?
I want to achieve my 12x table by the end of this term.

Did you know that there are 3 different types f there's?

W.A.L.T recognise the appropriate use of language

There           - Location

They’re       - They are
Their           - Something belonging to them

There/common language
There was a bird soaring free
Over there I saw a person crying
There is some money on the ground

Their
They’re going to the park
They’re being chased
Wait until they’re gone
I saw they’re puppy
The officers shook their heads in disappointment

There/Location
Let’s go over there
I put you coat over there
What is over there?
The book is right over there

Up above I have done some examples of the different types of there's and their.

Have you ever scrathed a junior? well today I have on, scratch jr

Scratch Jr in a coding app that teaches you how to code and create a movie of coding down below you may see some image of the game here is a link to get to the game
Scratch Jr is a coding game which enables people and students to create their own interactive stories and games.
You put graphical blocks together to make you character of your desire Jump, dance, move forward, back and more.
People can modify character in the paint editor add their own voices, sounds, even photos of themselves - then use
the graphical blocks to make their characters come to life.
this is the programming place where you set everything out
lets just call it you stage.

To access you character editor you can go to the top left corner to choose a character of your
desire by clicking the blue plus button. To create your own character just go to the
right top corner to the paint brush which will take you to the screen shot taken down below
To change you background go to your stage (Main Page) and go to the middle right
and click the blue cross to access the background editor
To access all graphical the graphical blocks to make all your characters come to life can be accessed down the bottom.
The graphical blocks can make your animated character come to life by making it jump, dance, walk, and run.

Are you a swimmer or a non swimmer?

Through these pass few weeks I cannot swim due to a swimmers ear (Condition when you swim too much and the end result will conclude to an ear ache) So unfortunately I cannot swim with the rest of the class. But on the bright when swimmers go to the pool we are either left with our lovely Whaea Chanella or the intriguing Matua Matt. When we are them we do different activities or assignments. My favourable activity is when we are sent of with Matua Matt and get to create an informing movie which informs others why it is important to learn how swim.

Sheyahni, Charlee, Tyla-raine, Hukarere, Waaka, Aryan and I, split off with Matua Matt and started creating this movie name How to prevent drowning? Each one of us had something to do in the movie. Matua Matt commissioned me to researched how much deaths have been caused due to the lack of experience of learning how to swim.

I used various websites to answer this question, but I could not find the answer, until, I came across this site named drowning statistics and obviously this website should of had a few answers for my unfavourable questioned. So I checked out this site and found nothing fascinating about, it until, I kept on scrolling down this website, and then, walaa, there are all of the answers I needed, on  this site.

Aerodynamics, biomechanics, and a pressure drag, have you ever heard of those words?

In my current reading group (Panana) are currently reading a book named Beating The Wind

When I first heard of this book I suggested that the book (Beating The Wind) Had to be about working with wind. For example running through the tough wind.

I eventually got confused at a point and I just wanted to give up, but when I actually listen closely to the story I understood the story more better. I recommend this book to students over 10+ because the book does have complex words and words that are long such as
Aerodynamics (The way how things and objects mover through the air)

Biomechanics (The study of body movements)
Friction drag (When air is compressed onto a surface which then spreads out)

Raise your hand if you like to own a talking, disappearing, and teleporting guinea pig, because I know I don't

This week we have been sent into the library to sustain a book so re can display and recite our book in the front of our class. There were many varieties of books to decide from. But the book I chose was perfect for me.

Title: Jinny & Cooper
Revenge of the stone witch

Written by: Tania Ingram

Definition of the book: For Jinny, it's not easy owning Cooper, her annoying talking , disappearing guinea pig with a love of biscuits and a talent for sniffing out trouble. Especially trouble of the witch kind.

Is the witch burying strange things outside Jinny's house? And why can't jinny bring herself to be friends with goody-two-shoes Katie, the new girl next door?

What do you think?

I haven't filly read this book yet but I really think that I am going to enjoy this book.

Prediction:
What I predict about this book is that there are many twists and turns. I predict that the guinea pig will cause loads of trouble but will still protect jinny. Raise your hand if you like to own a talking, disappearing, and teleporting guinea pig, because I know I don't.
