Have you ever lost one person apart of your family? Well lately we have been having qite a few tangi. It just gets worst and worst.

Whaea Dawnette
A few days ago, I had experienced in a school, losing the best admin officer. Her name was Whaea Dawnette. She would have done anything for our school to keep it healthy and strong. We didn't just hve no more staff member, but we lost a member of our whanau.

We went to the marae in black skirts. We had two long buses for transport. They took us down Awarua to a marae called Te Hurihi marae. We waited in the front of the marae to have a powhiri. As we walked into the marae we had to wait for the boys . Waiting for the boys to hariru the people was like and old lady walking around her. It felt like it took years for the boy to hariru, But it was worth the wait because we wanted to respect Whaea Dawnette. We went to her coffin by kissing her or to touch her coffin.

YASS! it was finally my turn. She was so pale but I didn't care. She still looked as beautifual as the day I first met her. To respect her I touched her coffin and carried on and hariru the rest of her family and friends. We had finished and all of the matua that had to talk had finished.

As we finished uncle Bill stood up and said his farewells and then we finished. It was our turn and matua Hemara had to acknowledge what whaea Dawnette did for us and we sang some songs. We sang the song dedicated to her, because some of her favourite subjects were: Waka ama, Kapa Haka and more. I will never forget that day we lost a member of our family. We will always be with you Whaea Dawnette.
