Tena koutou katoa,
Today I have been using this really cool app called google earth, with Whaea Tania. What the app allows you to do is fly you around the world and to different countries and cities and tells you facts about your chosen destination, google earth is similar to the app google maps, but google earth is more interactive and more world wide.
What we have been learning on google earth is to fly around to specific cities to find out what the population is. With this collected data we have been learning to copy it onto a spreadsheet and learn how to inset it to create a bar graph, here is the bar graph that I have created down below

Do you think you can get these math riddles correct? Try out my math quiz and lets see what happens?
For the passed week or so, whaea Tania has assigned room 4 to create a
math quiz on google slide presentation. On our presentation they had to
include the following:
- Math
- Knowledge
- The x factor
My presentation is infographic so that it is easier to understand, what my
gif's/images is based off are soccer players because my slideshow
presentation is based off of soccer. I challenge you to create a math quiz.
Anyways I hope you enjoy my slideshow presentation.
Do you know how to ask and answer questions in te reo maori? if not, you are in the right place.
Today (13/09/18) I have created a presentation that displays different ways
of asking and answering questions in Te Reo Maori.
Here are some tips I have learned while I was in my Te Reo Lesson:
1. When answering with Kei/ko/ He aha/ always answer with kei/ko/he aha
2.When asking "he aha tenei?" make sure the object is right next to you.
3. The question 'he aha tena' it is something away from you and next to the
person whom you are speaking with
4. The question 'he aha tera' is away from both of you and the answer will
always be 'he _____ tera'

Do you do graphs? Well, today I have created a little document about what is a strip graph and what is the different between a strip graph and a pie graph
What is a strip graph?
W.A.L.T: Learn and understand what is a strip graph?
- A strip graph is a graph that caculates the amounts of things.
- A strip graph is similar to a pie graph but is displayed in strips.
- A strip graph is broken into segmants which all make up to a whole.
- Keep in mind that strip graphs a very similar to pie graphs but are just more efficient in creating.
Difference between a Strip Graph and a Pie Graph

This is a pie graph

What can I tell that is the difference?
I can tell that a strip graph is made up of rows or Strips, and I can see that the pie graph are made up of broken into pieces like a pie

What have I learnt?
Today I have learnt to understand to use the correct structure and language for a recount writing.
Today our class (Room 4) all had to use the right structure and language for our recount writing. My story is about going to the Auckland museum.
What I have learnt new about structure and language is that a recount writing is shaped like a body. A head is an introduction, The stomach is the description and details, and the feet is the summary.
Also today in maths I was learning about - adding fractions with like denominators.
Our maths group (Porohita) Had gone for a maths lesson with Miss Simeon.
*S.C - find the equivalent fraction, denominator must be the like
What I learnt new about today in maths is that you could find equivalent fractions for one fraction.

My Weekly Writing Goal
I have created a slideshow presentation about my weekly writing goal, do you have a weekly goal at your school? I have got my idea for my writing goal from a writing rubric. What would you like to improve on your writing?
My slideshow includes what my writing goal is and how could I achieve it.

Have You Ever Been To A Marae Noho Before?
Today I have written a recount writing that recites what we had done at our marae noho located at Kohewhata Marae
W.A.L.T organise and follow the structure of a recount.

Marae Noho
Last Thursday on a gloomy morning, Room 4, Room 5, and Room 3 were about to go to a marae
noho at Kohewhata marae. Everybody packed their big bulky bags into the library. Everyone
was crowded in the library and was running around like a stampede of elephants. When were
all silent Miss Simeon started to talk about health and safety and the boundaries of the marae,
but all I could think about was, what does this noho hold for us, and what would we be cooking

The buses finally pulled up in the car park waiting for the bus to be filled with people. The
doors squealed open and people gradually made their ways through the door. The bus slowly
filled up like slowly filling up a cup with liquid, and everyone took their seats. The bus was
so filled that we needed to use another bus to transport some other students and teachers to
the marae. When we finally got into the bus and took our seats, I looked to the right and saw
that the arm rest reacted like a gear stick, then I looked to the left and saw that the curtains
acted like hair flowing in the air, and then did I realised that we were on a luxurious bus.

We finally arrived at the marae and puddles surrounded the Whare kai and Whare tupuna.
We all took the bags into the Wharenui in the pouring rain, “Are we done” I questionably asked
everybody, “Yus we’re done” A few minutes later we started to cook with Whaea Ursula

Year 8’s crammed into the kitchen with Whaea Ursula, and Matua Jessie, while everybody else
went away to do activities with the teachers. We came together as a group of year 8’s to think
about who was going to do what. We were cooking breakfast, Lunch, and dinner, and from my
point of view, I knew that this process was going to take quite a while.

While us year 8’s were cooking in the kitchen, the rest of the students and teachers were sent
away with different teachers to do various activities, such as, imprints on the carvings with
clay, Making head bands with paper, tukutuku panels, kuouo, art with Miss
Simeon, And kapa haka with Whaea Ra , and Whaea Mary. Unfortunately the year 8’s got to
miss out on some of these activities, but we still got to have a try at some.

We steadily made our way to finishing off delicious dinner and delightful dessert and everyone
was just finishing up their activities with the teachers. During the process of the cooking I cut
myself not once but twice with razor sharp knives on my fingers. They were like teeth from a
sabre tooth tiger. Everyone slowly made their ways into the whare kai and were seated onto the
ground, the year 8’s were kept in the kitchen to prepare the tables. “Can you please tell me that
we’re done,” "Yes we are done," someone replied to me," My arm were relieved, and I was
exhausted

“OMG, this is delicious,” The teachers said as their mouths slowly widened. People's eyeballs
widened as if someone was about to punch them, and I knew that that sign was telling me that
our food was incredible.

In conclusion I had loads of fun at the noho and I hope that we get to go for another noho
at the marae. I learnt a lot about the pou and how Matariki should actually be celebrated.
Overall I had the best time and I hope to go again.
